Materials Scientist
A creative and energetic chemist / materials scientist who wishes to pursue a challenging and rewarding career in a biotech start up, the successful candidate will support the development of a new platform for DNA microarrays. S/he will work in a multidisciplinary environment using chemical approaches to design and develop new surfaces/chemistry and new analytical methods for the assessment of quality and stability of DNA arrays.
Responsibilities will include immobilization of Oligonuetides on metallic and/or inorganic substrates, along with their physical surface characterization. S/he will quickly develop competencies in additional techniques as well as emerging technologies. These skills, together with knowledge in basic organic chemistry and surface immobilization, will be utilized in the solving of applied technical problems.
The ideal candidate will have degree in Materials Science or Chemistry (0-3 years industrial experience will be additional criteria) with knowledge of basic organic chemistry, surface immobilization, hetero-bifunctional chemistry, hands-on attitude and an innovative approach to problem solving. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in interdisciplinary teams is essential. A background in synthesis of small molecules with experience of surface immobilization and polymer chemistry is highly desirable. Nucleotide chemistry experience is a plus. Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with fluency in English.
